The fashion industry is a combination of the Type 7 vision and imagination combined with the Type 3 skill with sales, manufacturing and marketing. Project Runway is a wonderful example of the full spectrum of Enneagram Type 7 . Identifying what is ‘in’ and what is ‘out’ is the strength of the cutting edge, fashion forward movement of 7. There are more fashion designers that are Type 7 than any other type. The three primary judges on the show are Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. All three express themselves as 7s. All three use the lexicon and word preferences of Enneagram Type 7 . Type 7 use the words, fun, inspiring, joyful and boring more than any other Enneagram Type. When these three judges like an outfit they will say that it is fun, inspiring and/or joyful. When they don’t like a design they will often say that it is boring uninspiring or unimaginative. Michael Kors has said when commenting on a creation that he didn’t like ” Where is the joy?” or “It lost the joy of being fun.” or “…it looks a little sad.” or “…no sense of smile.” This is quintessentially Type 7. The gift of Type 7 is creative visionary imagination. The fear of Type 7 is of being sad, inferior, trapped, bored, limited or missing out.
